Prices in Russia now?

Hi guys!
In preparation for this year's outing to Ladoga, can you tell me the price of a few things in St Petersburg so that we can plan how much money to bring? There are several Tourism teams coming along who have never been to Russia before and it would help them to know the price of basic items such as bread, milk, a cup of coffee, etc...

I know last year fuel was around 25r / litre, and that will be our main expense - has the price changed much?

Hi John!
Nice to see you again. :-D
It is clear that everywhere crisis, today in news on the TV showed a plot about breaking of bank of Scotland. In Petersburg at present an euro exchange rate is 44,8946 rub. for 1 euro. Dollar exchange rate is 33,9032 rub. for 1 usd dollar.
With approach of crisis prices to gasoline have considerably fallen in price:
-92-near 16-17 rub. for litre
-95-near 18-20 rub. for litre
But prices on food becomes a bit higher:
-bread about 22-25rub
-milk about 35-40 rub
-coffe middle price about 100-150 rub for 200 gr.
John! If you need more prices, write me please a list of the most necessary things you will need in Russia till your trip to Ladoga. :)

Aleks - thank you for the information! I really only wanted to check that our economy had not fallen so badly that fuel would cost more in Russia than it does in the UK, but I think you still have a better price - fuel here is 45rub/litre for 95, this is the lowest price for some time as it was near 55rub last year O_O

We only really use petrol and coffee when racing - one goes in the people, one goes in the cars, which one goes into which thing is decided by how well things are going :-D

I think the UK is maybe the highest, but the rest of Europe is not very different. When oil prices go up, the price goes up. When oil prices go down, the prices do not go down again. A lot of the price is tax. I heard someone say that in one year the price of oil has gone down by more than 60% but fuel has only gone down 10-15%.

The government say the tax on petrol is high to encourage people to use environmentally friendly cars or use buses & trains, but our buses & trains were sold to private companies and cost more money per mile than driving around in a Range Rover %-) I think perhaps free-market capitalism is not always the correct answer

Please can you say some words about future politic and economic situation in UK! What do you think?
